The Eskimo build strong, weather-proof snow home called igloos. An igloo is built from blocks of tightly packed snow. For the bottom layer, each block is laid in a circle, learning slightly inwards. Thus each ring becomes smaller, with height. A couple of block could be made of pure ice, to allow light in. The dome’s peak is closed with one top-block. The space between blocks is packed with snow and a lamp is lighted inside. Once the snow along the interior melts a bit, the lamp is put out and cold air is allowed in. this freezes the inner layer, further strengthening and insulating the igloo.
