As in other secular countries, Muslims in Singapore do not get enough points. For example, there should be no call to prayer. Someone should do the call to prayer at the mosque, but his voice was not allowed to come out of the mosque. Therefore, Muslims are more likely to use radio broadcasts to find out the prayer times. On July 14, 2010, the Minister of the Right Goh Chok Tong explained the mosque no longer using magnifying the sound of azan and lectures in order to respect the feelings of non-Muslims. This is so that the majority of non-Muslims are not disturbed. No effort of MUIS to protest and action to rectify this situation.
But, this does not apply in the area of the Sultan Mosque, one of the oldest mosques in Singapore. Around Arab Street, the call to prayer echoed through the allowed speakers, and to function as a reminder and caller. Currently there are 69 mosques in Singapore. All of this mosque administration under MUIS completely.
