The Self-Directed Search (SDS; Holland et al., 1997) was used to measure participants’
Holland codes. A broad array of occupational and leisure activities are assessed on 228 items
using a variety of scales (open-ended responding, forced-choice, and Likert) measuring interests,

aspirations, and competencies. Results yield a ranking of the six Holland types (RIASEC) in a
three-letter summary code.
