In this paper, a new electrolytic rectifier system based on the harmonic suppression rectifier transformer and its filter system has been presented and analyzed. It is proved that the proposed rectifier system can effectively suppress harmonic currents generated by the converter and compensate some reactive power at the valve-side, that is, the harmonic source when the filter winding of new rectifier transformer adopts zero equivalent impedance design and the filters adopt the full-tuned design. Compared with traditional rectifier transformer and filter scheme, the proposed rectifier system has excellent filtering effects, improve the system power factor and operating efficiency, and reduce the system loss by using the transformer inductive filtering technology. Simulation and field test results verify the correctness of our theoretical analysis, and show that the filtering effect of the transformer inductive filtering method is better than that of the traditional passive filtering method.
