Apply with Gun-cleaning Patches or flannel patches cut to size.Solvent's Patches are specially selected flannel and come in right sizes to fit close. and go through bore without jamming. Clean from the breach end.
First saturate a patch with No.99 in serf in bore on cleaning rod and work back and forth slowly until bore is well cleaned Then wipe with a fresh patch. if polished bore shows lead or metal fouling streaks or other spots. saturate patch with No.99 and swab some more. Rep ear until bore is bright and clean and patch shows no stains. Give a final swabbing with a saturated patch to leave 2 thin rust-preventing film of No.99 on the metal. For neglected bores a bristle brush may be used.
If gun is to be laid away, repeat cleaning next day to remove any residue brought gun of tool marks or rust pits by No.99
