Depressive symptoms
Among the women at high risk for GDM, 16.6% had an EPDS score≥10 (suggesting risk
for depression) compared to 11.2% of the pregnant women in the general population (p=
.025). Furthermore, the mean EPDS score was significantly higher in the women at high
risk for GDM compared to the pregnant women in the general population (5.5, SD 4.5
vs. 4.6, SD 3.9,p= .004, effect size 0.21 [95% CI: 0.07 to 0.34]). However, after adjusting
for age, prepregnancy BMI and income, the statistically significant difference between
the groups in the proportion of women having an EPDS score≥10 (p= .59) and in the
mean EPDS score (p= .39) disappeared
