The head of a chess piece, the tail of monkey, a ridged body that seems carved from wood, eyes like a chamelon, and farther who becomes pregnant.
This is the seahorse, an unlikely looking fish.
The seahorse swims upright, propelled by a wavering dorsal fin.
There are no pelvic or tail fins at all.
But there is a tail-tapering and peahen, able to grip seaweed stems as the seahorse watches for food.
