The generation of compostable organic material in Dindigul
Town is 49,896 ton per day and it requires a minimum of
16,632 ton of CD per day to prepare a 3:1 ratio mixture and it is
very difficult to collect 16,632 ton of CD per day which forces indirectly
again the disposal problem of MSW and adoption of unscientific
disposal methods (John Paul, 2005). Hence, in the present
study, minimum incorporation of CD with MSW has been worked
out to elucidate the possibility of converting MSW into resourceful
vermicompost. The present study reveals that the ratio of 100:8
and 100:10 MSW + CD is suitable for vermicomposting using P.
ceylanensis.
