A diagram illustrating how genomics-based genotyping platforms can contribute to molecular breeding by design. First, genome-wide genotyping and
agronomic traits collecting at multiple environments can identify the roles of genes, alleles, environments and their interactions for controlling
agronomic traits via QTL mapping, association mapping, and mutant screening. Second, a target genotype for desirable traits can be designed,
breeding procedures can be optimized, and a breeding model can be simulated. Third, breeding and evaluation can be carried out based on the
combination of genomics-based genotyping platforms and agronomic traits analysis.
