Role Model
Nurses represent the standards and quality of care defined within the limits of education, experience, and state licensing bodies.
The general public has the right to expect safe, conscientios practice from nurses.
Professionally, optimal standards of practice must be maintained for the achievement of the desired health care outcomes.
As role models, experienced nurses exemplify the highest ideals of nursing practice, and they command admiration, trust, and respect from all health care professionals and persons receiving care.
Although nurses rarely view themselves as role models for future nurses, they must be seen by others as just that.
As students and later on as professionals, these individuals are expected to abide by the highest standards of care and to show, through their actions, that they are truly worthy of the professional title "registered nurse".
