New Facility, The John M. and Silvia Ferretti LECOM Medical Fitness & Wellness Center
The Challenge
As part of its community service mission, Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) set forth the goal of uniting a comprehensive fitness center with clinical services and medical offices to create a single destination that reflected LECOM’s commitment to preventive, total-person health care. The vision and purpose for the Center included:
Improving the health and well-being of the Millcreek Health System and greater Erie communities.
Reducing healthcare costs for the Millcreek Health System organization and its corporate partners in the community.
Engaging in scientific research to advance knowledge and understanding in the field of health and wellness.
Providing a place for Millcreek Health System physicians, pharmacists, & LECOM students to experience wellness so they might encourage participation by their patients.
The Solution
LECOM chose Power Wellness Management as the college’s strategic partner for planning and operating the fitness center. LECOM and Power Wellness were committed to strengthening the health and well-being of the greater Erie community with a medically based fitness and wellness center. The partnership with Power Wellness helped LECOM deepen the college’s role within the community as a trusted resource for preventative and medical care.
As the facility was being constructed, Power Wellness was busy pre-selling memberships and marketing the center in the community. The Power Wellness team assisted with every aspect of the center’s development including the selection and placement of furniture, fixtures, and equipment. Power Wellness developed the operating systems and continues to manage the facility.
