The Properties
The respondents represented a variety of type of properties. Twenty
percent of the properties were described as “luxury” hotels, 16 percent
full-service high price, 21 percent as full-service moderate price, and
7 percent described as limited service. The remainder included all other
segments such as resorts, convention hotels and all-suites.
Fifty-four percent were located in a city and nearly 13 percent suburban,
with the remainder being located at highway, airport, and resort settings.
The represented hotels had an average of 492 rooms with a range of
16–4406. The average number of employees is not presented due to the
variety of properties. Respondents often included all employees (casino,
recreation, and convention services) not just those associated with the
hotel as a lodging property
