Since Amsterdam is a northern European city, it is called “Venice of the North” while both
Bangkok and Suzhou are considered as “ Venice of the East”, but for the most cases “Venice of
the Orient” for Suzhou. The townscape peculiar to these settlements and their architecture are
both derived from hydrographic conditions, which make them the most unique and fascinating
places ever created by human being. But the more interesting thing is how they manage to go
along with the modern world.
Other than the original Venice, it is widely known that there are three more so called
“Venices” situated in both Europe and Asia: Amsterdam in Netherlands, Suzhou in China, and
Bangkok in Thailand.
