Rice is one of the most important food crops of the world. However, its yield is constantly affected by several major diseases such as bacterial blight (BB), blast and tungro (Dai et al., 2007). Among these diseases, BB caused by Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo) is one of the major diseases in Vietnam as well as other rice-growing regions of the world. Bacterial blight disease in rice has reduced Asia’s annual rice production by as much as 60% (Dai et al., 2007).
