Vertical sleeve gastrectomy is another form
of restrictive procedure where about 85% of
the stomach is removed leaving the pylorus and
nerve supply to the stomach intact (Figure 3).
The marked reduction in the size of the stomach
creates early satiety. This procedure is irreversible
but avoids complications of anaemia, and
vitamin deficiencies as there is no bypass of
the gastrointestinal tract (Milone et al, 2005).
