2.2.4. Recovery of Salmonella and E. coli O157:H7
After UV-C treatment, the fruit skin with the inoculum was excised
using a pair of surface-sterilized scissors. The skins given the same treatment
time were combined (total weight: ~3 g) and placed into 80 mL
stomacher bags. Twenty milliliters of buffered peptone water (pH =
7.1) was added to each bag and homogenized using a stomacher circulator
(Panoramic™, Neutec Group Inc., Farmingdale, NY) for 1.5 min.
