Mr. Kamol Rodkhlai , OBEC Secretary General informed that according to the WEF (World Economic Forum) which ranks world education, the rate of Thai students who attend classes in school is ranked 101st in the world and 9th in the ASEAN countries. Moreover, the quality of Thailand's education system was 78th in the world and 8th out of the ASEAN countries. The quality of elementary education is ranked 86th in the world and 7th in ASEAN.
Currently, the WEF shows the ranking results of educational competency of countries in 2013-2014. Thailand is ranked 37th out of 148 countries.
He went on to say that although Thailand's education system was ranked in the medium level, we should develop and enhance it, because, in the past ten years, the ranking of Cambodia's education system has been increased by 23 levels. The ranking of Indonesia and Philippines' education systems has also increased by 19 levels. Therefore, if Thailand's education system is not developed, we may fall behind the other ASEAN countries.
