This is important, because if resources during adolescence influence long-term trajectories of healthy behaviors, then adolescents with few health-promoting resources may
face long-term entrenchment in unhealthy behaviors across life course stages, with deleterious consequences throughout adulthood for both healthy behaviors and chronic disease risk. In sum, the second central goal of this study is to evaluate the roles of psychosocial characteristics,
social support, and family of origin characteristics during adolescence in structuring healthy behavior trajectories between adolescence and young adulthood (ages 13–24).
