This is in line with
the idea expressed by Carrell (1988) that "pre-reading activities must accomplish both goals :
building new background knowledge as well as activating existing background knowledge".
Simply put, the teachers are not only to activate but also to construct the schemata of
the leaners. In some cases, a critical thinking can be advantageously exploited in the schema
construction. A number of problem solving activities are created for the readers
