Resolving WHS issues
If there are WHS issues the employer and the Committee should agree on an appropriate timeframe for the employer to respond to the matter. The timeframe may vary according to the particular issue and its complexity. If the matter is not resolved after the employer has been given a reasonable opportunity to consider and respond, the WHS representative or Committee may request an investigation of the matter by an Inspector.
An inspector can be requested at any stage in the resolution process. To determine whether action is appropriate when a request is made for an investigation, the inspector will ask:
.,.. Whether the matter has been considered by the employer and the WHS Committee . .,.. What action has been taken as a result of the consultation?
The WHS Committee and the employer should work cooperatively to resolve the matter prior to requesting assistance from the regulator.
