We explored the methods to incorporate bottom-up abatement
cost estimates into top-down models. Abatement possibilities are
usually taken into account implicitly in such models. The approach
is different than in bottom-up models, because the characteristics of
the technologies and how they are specified are essential here. The integration
of abatement technologies with top-down modeling makes
it possible to better assess the economic costs of environmental policies
and avoid an overestimation of the marginal abatement cost.
