We propose that the fall in the
proportion of episodes due to coagulase-negative
staphylococci and the setting of standards based
upon historic studies of selected patient populations
may explain the failure to meet the current standards
set by the Renal Association for initial cure and
culture-negative rates in PD-associated peritonitis
