Quality Improvement (QI) is a systematic approach which involves mapping, documenting, analyzing and redesigning (Luning et al., 2002). There are numerous QI methods such as dashboard matrices, Lean and Six Sigma. Lean manufacturing is a system that utilizes fewer inputs while creating the same outputs and contributing more value to the customers (Womack, Jones, & Roos, 1990). Lean manufacturing comprises a wide variety of tools and techniques to find root causes of problems, identify and eliminate wastes and thereby streamline the business processes. Similarly, Six Sigma is “a business improvement strategy used to improve business profitability, to drive out wastes, to reduce cost of poor quality and to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of all
operations so as to meet or even exceed customers’ needs and expectations” (Antony & Banuelas, 2002).
