Twenty-three lactobacilli species were isolated from
24 dairy samples of traditional Egyptian dairy products
on MRS medium. Ten of them were selected for further
assays on the basis of their surface activity (data not
shown). They were tentatively identified with an API
50CHL kit system, and are summarized in Table 1.
These isolates need further study for their final identification,
but the species names shown in Table 1 were
used in the present study.
