Once the season begins there are a number of external elements which might direct the coach in deciding when and how to attempt to hove a team at their peak. The draw a team faces will often impose a rhythm on your in-season training. This rhythm is determined largely by two factors: who you are playing and how many days' break you get from the previous game before you're asked to play again. Others factors, such as where the game will be played (home or interstate), the expected success of your own team both for that game and for the year in general, and a knowledge of how your team actually responds to changes in the volume and intensity of training, both in the short and long term, will all influence your decision regarding the setting of training loads.
