Taking this research into account, the aim of this study was
firstly to elaborate a fast, easy, and efficient method for the
purification of active compounds, such as menthol, from peppermint
oil, and secondly, to develop an effective method for the
removal of potentially toxic ingredients. As a potential separation
tool high-performance counter-current chromatography was
selected. The method is characterized by lack of a typical solid
stationary phase and can be easily scale-up even from analytical to
industrial scale
