The relationship of the JDI category scores and the
employee status is reported in Table 5. Only pay, and job
in general showed signi"cant di!erences in the relationship
with job satisfaction between current and resigned
employees. It may imply that the employees' low satisfaction
towards pay and job may lead to employee turnover
in hotels. The result appears to be compatible with
Chau's (1977) reports that production workers considered
monetary rewards as their primary goal in Hong
Kong.
