A partnership between families, health care professionals, and schools is required to offer a balanced perspective. Family and community-based sexuality education allows the sharing of family and community values and encourages effective decision-making skills. It is imperative that the primary care practitioner work cooperatively with children, schools, and parents in sexuality education programs. Practitioners are urged to prepare and make available to family an age-appropriate resource list of books, videos, activities, and games that facilitate family-based sexuality education and discussion.
