Baseline serum albumin has also been associated
with the susceptibility to peritonitis. The
CANUSA Peritoneal Dialysis Study Group(6) found that
a decreased serum albumin concentration at baseline
was associated with increased risk of technique failure,
although this was not specifically ascribed to peritonitis.
Chow et al observed a significant increase in risk
of developing peritonitis with a decrease in baseline
serum albumin in a Chinese population(7).
