Another recent event that generated large amount of media publicity was the arrival of the company’s first Airbus A320 on 8 Dec 2005. The company has ordered 100 A320s, with at least 60 of them expected to be in operation by 2011, gradually replacing the current Boeing 737 fleet. It is part of AirAsia’s continuing strategy to keep one step ahead of the competition through cost optimization at the same time as providing a more comfortable yet affordable flying experience for its customers.
