The main idea behind the new proposed NDT technique is to explore the wide range of properties of bacterial cells, such as
(i) small dimension (some species have cells smaller than 1 m),
(ii) high penetration capacity, due to the production of biosurfac-
tants, (iii) motility (due to the use of agella, gliding or electro-
phoretic motility), (iv) adherence, (v) reproducibility and death,
(vi) uorescence (natural or by addition of chemical compounds),
(vii) endothermic/exothermic properties, and (viii) susceptibility
to electric and magnetic elds.
