In all but five countries, boys drink soft drinks significantly more often than girls, while in all but four countries, girls eat fruit significantly more often than boys. In 17 countries, daily consumption of soft drinks increases with age, no significant age difference was found in 10 countries and, only in Portugal, 15-year old pupils consumed soft drinks significantly less often than their 11-year old counterparts. In 24 countries a significantly lower consumption of fruit was found among the 15-year olds in comparison with the 11-year olds, in the remaining countries no significant age difference was found.
