Previous research showed that the BV could inhibit
the growth of bacteria and fungi (Luo et al., 2004;
Jiang, 2005; Baimark & Niamsa, 2009). BV showed
intensely inhibitive ability to E. coli, Sa. enteritidis and
St. aureus in this study. Inhibition of E. coli and Sa.
enteritidis by the dilution of BV at the ratio of 1/512
indicated that the 4% inclusion in diet was an
effective dose for BV to act as an antibacterial feed
additive, at least for both these pathogen species
