Respondents of the survey suggested that the support of the
Wound Management Clinical Nurse Consultant (employed 1 day
per week for 6 months) was beneficial with all who accessed the
consultant satisfied with the support provided, 82% strongly so.
Interaction was most common via direct person-to-person contact
at the site as suggested by 100% of respondents. Telephone contact
(70.6%) and email and joint client review visits (each 64%) were
also frequently utilized. Contact most often related to pressure risk
and management; however, advice regarding leg ulcer management
and dressing selection was also requested.
