‘My daughter refuses to eat breakfast before going to school and I’m
worried that she will hypo on the way to school. What should I do?’
Skipping breakfast is not an option for any child with diabetes. Breakfast is an
important meal to start the day. Make sure there is plenty of time to enjoy a good
breakfast. Milkshakes, fruit smoothies and hot flavoured milk drinks are good
starters. Alternatively, the child may prefer two small snacks (one at breakfast
and one on the way to school). This will ensure sufficient carbohydrate intake to
minimise the risk of a hypo.
