Guard Job Description and Duties
The duties of “guard” for Norwich International School Bangkok will be outlined through this document. The duties will be clearly stated as to avoid any confusion and misinformation. Please note that these duties are to be followed for the maximum efficiency and effectiveness of your duty as “guard.”
The outer gates will be described as follows: Gate 1 (Baby Swim), Gate 2 (Primary Gate), Gate 3 (Between PR and EY), Gate 4 (Early Years).
All 4 gates to be opened between the hours of 0645 to 0830 and 1445 to 1630, Monday through Friday.
Gates 1 to 4 are to be closed at all other times Monday and Tuesday.
Gates 2 to 4 are to be closed at all other times Wednesday through Friday.
The period in which the gates are closed will be known as the “secure” period.
During the secure period, there must be one guard stationed in the post at gate 2 at all times. This guard will be responsible for opening and closing the gate for people coming and leaving the parking lot. Any and all cars must exit through gate 2 only within this secure period. The gate must be closed immediately after the vehicle has cleared the gate; the gate cannot be left open longer than one minute after a vehicle clears.
There must always be someone at the desk at the entry of Primary and Early Years at all times. This guard is responsible for exchanging identification cards for visitor’s badges. No one is to be let on to school premises without obtaining, and wearing, a visitor’s badge.
If parents ask guards anything pertaining to school activities, class schedules, or similar, they are to inform the parents to contact academic staff only. Guards are not permitted to answer academic inquiries as to avoid misinformation to parents.
Any issues that arise must be reported to management in the Operations Center immediately. If management in the operations center is not available, management in the Head of School office must be contacted instead. Admissions and other academic staff are not to be contacted with school issues.
If there are concerns regarding security from parents or outside individuals, guards must refer them to speak to the operations manager only. If parents have complaints or issues about anything else, they must be referred to PA to Head of School.
Guards are not permitted to make complaints on behalf of parents. This is to prevent misinformation or wrongful information presented on behalf of parents. Guards are not permitted to take action on behalf of parents. Guards are not to involve themselves with housekeeping, landscaping, catering, academic, nor operations.
Official instructions and tasks will be given by management staff only. Any task given by non-management staff but be approved by a manager.
