Table 1 reports the means, standard deviations, average variances extracted, composite reliabilities, factor loadings, and fit indexes for the combined sample and each country sample. (The correlations among the study variables in the combined three-country sample and in each country sample are available on request.) Before the hypothesis testing, we used a four-step approach to assess the measures. These steps included (1) testing the robustness of each item across the three-country samples, (2) conducting confirmatory factor analyses (CFAs) in the combined sample and in each of the country samples, (3) assessing the reliability and validity of the scales in the combined sample and in each of the country samples, and (4) testing to ensure that common method bias did not inhibit the hypothesis testing.
