ACP and ACW have been utilized as adsorbents for the removal of
the diazo anionic dye AR18 from aqueous solutions. It was found that
the adsorption of AR18 may firstly occur on the external surface of
ACW and ACP particles where the external functional groups will enhance
the removal and adsorption process. Secondly, adsorption may
happen on the entire surface and lead to a uniform distribution of
adsorbed AR18. The adsorption of AR18 on to ACW and ACP surfaces
will be enhanced due to the creation of π–π bonding with the C_C
bonds of the ACWand ACP. Consequently, at least three types of adsorption
sites might occur on the surface of the developed adsorbent i.e.
basal plane, edge plane and micropores. The equilibrium adsorption of
the dye AR18 on both of the developed adsorbent i.e. ACW and ACP
was achieved in 45 and 90 min respectively and the AR 18 removal
