2015), this two cited studies also detected higher concentrations of Cr
in river water. Moreover, Vilavert et al. (2015) also detected higher
concentrations of Cu than those presented in the present study. Although
the concentration of Ni at sampling point EBR7 exceeded the
admissible maximummean level defined by theWFD, the concentrations
found are well below the US-EPA benchmarks for freshwaters. Lead, in
some specific cases has also exceeded the corresponding environmental
quality standards (EQS) in water. The sampling point that presented
the highest amount of metals was EBR7, being also the sampling point
with the worst biological indices.
