Phrae pummelled by summer storm
A strong storm pounded a large area of Muang district of Phrae province on Sunday evening, damaging more than 100 houses, reports said.The storm moved in about 6pm and ravaged villages 5, 6, 9 and 11 of tambon Pa Maet of Muang district and the provincial town on both sides of the Yom River, damaging more than 100 houses.
Phrae governor Sak Somboonto, leaders of the Phrae provincial administration organisation, the Pa Maet tambon administration organisation and Phrae Municipality instructed local officials to immediately assess the damage and provide assistance to affected residents.
Soldiers from the Den Chai-based 12th Cavalry Battalion from early Monday assisted in the examination of damage in tambon Pa Maet and helped repair damaged houses.
At Wat Mahapho in tambon Pa Maet, many trees were toppled by the storm and two cars parked inside the temple grounds were damaged. A falling tree broke the neck of a statue of a temple guardian.
The governor said Phrae had been hit many times this year by summer storms, which had damaged more than 1,000 houses in total.
