Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems are a common
means of developing production plans in discrete parts manufacturing.
A key parameter of MRP systems is the planned lead time (PLT)
of each part number. MRP systems offset each part's net requirements
backward in time by PLT to create planned order manufacturing
releases and planned purchase orders. Graves (2011)
conjectures there is great opportunity in developing decision
support systems that can help planners in setting the value of
PLT. Accordingly, we propose a mixed integer program (MIP) model
for determining PLTs under the assumption that an MRP system will
use the PLTs as parameters when creating a production plan
