Introduction The arid and semi-arid regions are specifically dependent on groundwater as the only water source. However, groundwater contamination has increasingly become a serious issue, specifi-cally in areas where fertilizers are extensively used on plantations.Groundwater has turned into the only water source because of the limited availability of surface water. Therefore, the prevention of groundwater contamination is essential for effective groundwater resource management and vulnerability assessment. Groundwater on tamination assessment methods divide a geographical region in to sub-areas in terms of their vulnerability to groundwater contamination; thereafter, effective groundwater protection measures are conducted in areas prone to pollution (2007).Global political decisions are generally associated with the protection of groundwater from pollutants. These decisions are aided by analysis using the DRASTIC (D—depth of water, R—recharge,A—aquifer media, S—soil, T—topography, I—impact of zone,
