Another study by Beyer(1998) of 246 college students (156 women and 90 men) majoring in psychology found that significantly more men attributed their success to ability, whereas women attributed their success to studying and "paying attention " For failing outcomes,men blamed a lack of study and low interest, whereas women blamed lack of ability. The author identified that this situation may play a role in women 's negative self-evaluations of performance.This finding would be consistent with the nurses' response reported in Theme 4 of the current article,as well as with the findings in the study by Gelkopf et al.(2009)
