Temporal differences occur in the visits to the three studied
destination areas. Tourism in the whole of Estonia can be described
as seasonal because more than one third of visits to the country are
made during summertime. The proportion of visits is highest in July
and lowest in the winter months (Fig. 3). Spring and autumn visits
have a similar share to each other. In the case of Saare County, the
odds of visiting the county rather than the country are higher in the
summer than in the spring, winter and autumn. In contrast, the
odds of visiting Tartu County instead of visiting the whole of
Estonia are greater off-season (Table 3). Both these tendencies are
also evident in the overall models that include all the visitation
parameters.
