Cattaneo et al. (2011) demonstrated
that tDCS administered over Broca’s area led to improvements
in speech fluency among ten healthy individuals. This
case report showed a speech changes after combined
integrative speech therapy and anodal tDCS over Broca’s
area. However, divergent opinions are found regarding
similar results in patients with cerebral palsy and stroke
survivors. Preliminary results have shown no significant improvements
in the effects of speech therapy when combined
with tDCS over Broca’s area in patients with aphasia
following a stroke. However, the experimental intervention
of these studies involved the use of tDCS prior to speech
therapy (10 min of stimulation followed by 45 min in speech
training). Thus, the timing of the administration of tDCS
could be a major factor in enhancing the gains of therapy. In
the present case, tDCS was administered simultaneously
with speech therapy, with promising clinical results
