You don't say how long you spent travelling on your own. That can make a difference.
And you seem to contradict, first saying it was great and now not so.
Sharing stories, or rather not, is something you get used to. It bothered me at first. Then I started writing a journal that I can read over again later. Reminds me of the little forgotten things.
Also when I did 6 weeks somewhere I had once shared with someone the first few were great but then towards the end I did feel I had enough of my own company. If I do another long trip, in fact even with shorter ones now, I usually try to arrange to do something with a group or individuals on the odd day. Otherwise I am going away to see specific things which others don't want to share. Going alone I can indulge in my interests without having to curtail or consider someone else all the time.
It will be interesting to see how you get on with a travel buddy now you have experienced the freedom of being alone.
