Plants are exposed to a wide range of pathogens, to which they respond by activating redundant signalling pathways that lead to the expression of defense responses. The signalling pathways are activated by perception of the pathogen associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) and lead to changes in the levels of stress hormones, which include SA and JA [1]. These hormones in turn activate transcription factors that regulate expression of genes involved in defense [2]. Mutants defective in SA or JA synthesis or signalling show susceptibility to pathogen infection [3], and external application of SA or JA is known to induce resistance against pathogens
