This kind of e-mail should also be under your scope to send to customer too for updating customer what we are doing for him and not ignore his shipment.
As SC function related to many dept included logistic, document dept , even SC does not response to do those functions directly but we still working as a same team and you should know what is going on with your customer’s account and know where you can jump in to the conversation and help to reduce the stress for customers .
