The bellboy is often the first person with whom an arriving hotel guest has a direct interaction. His customer service responsibilities include helping guests out of vehicles, unloading their luggage and transporting it into the hotel and on to their rooms, helping them find their rooms, teaching them to operate door locks and room lights and assisting with roll-away beds or cribs. Guests may also request additional items, such as extra pillows or an ironing board -- the bellboy can get these for the guests or pass their request on to housekeeping. He may help with laundry pick-up and delivery or shoe shines during guests' stays at the hotel. When guests depart, he takes their luggage from the room and loads it into their departure vehicle.
