Ikejiofor and Okonkwo (2010) designed and developed an active solar dryer with adjustable air flow rates for agricultural products. The main components of the dryer are the solar collector, heat storage unit, drying chamber, air outlet unit, and a suction fan. Test results showed that a drying period of 8-11 hours was obtained by using the solar dryer in conjunction with the suction fan at 27.29 m3/s suction rate. It was reported the dryer performed satisfactorily compared with drying period of 42-50 hours obtained from using open sun drying method.
